We know that the development process was running late and over budget, so Musk needed capital. We did not know he'd suggested that OpenAI raise $1 billion, merge with Tesla, and name him CEO. He's angry at OpenAI for giving other investors the opportunity to invest in a powerful company he wanted for himself. So now Musk is turning back to OpenAI, hoping the latest charmless offensive can help shore up his empire. If Musk indeed believed OpenAI needed him or Tesla to succeed, he was as belligerent about it as he was wrong.

BAE Systems said its good operational performance plus the demand from its customers, the biggest of which are the United States, Britain, Saudi Arabia and Australia, meant its full-year results would be better than expected across the board. Shares in BAE Systems jumped 5% in early deals. For 2023, BAE said earnings per share would grow 10%-12%, compared to the 5%-7% increase it had forecast in February, while it also lifted sales guidance to 5%-7% growth from 3%-5%.

On Wednesday evening’s earnings call, the Tesla CEO claimed that his company, a maker of niche luxury cars, would someday be worth more than Apple and Saudi Aramco. Tesla’s market value is $650 billion – down 7% after the company walked back a projection of 50% growth this year. Musk said the Tesla Model 3 would cost a mere $35,000, and it does not. Musk later apparently came off this idea, saying “robots are very bad at picking up fluff.”The point is, Elon Musk promises a lot of stuff. That does not exactly add up to a company that beats Apple and literally Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company.
